Gisburn Forest
Gisburn Forest is an excellent place to try off-road cycling. There are three way-marked loops, following a mixture of forest road and single track, which have been specially designed for cycling. A moumtain bike is recommended to ride in the forest. See our Bike Hire page. There are 3 cycle routes in Gisburn Forest to choose from: BLUE - 9 kilometers. This is of moderate grade, and will take about an hour to ride. GREEN - 12.5 kilometers. This is of moderate grade, and will take about 1.5 hours to ride. RED - 15.7 kilometers. This is of difficult grade, and will take abouit 2 hours to ride. The Blue and Green routes pass thourhg a variety of woodland, with many fine views of the forest and upper Hodder valley. The gradients are mostly gentle. The Red route is an extension of the green route, climbing up to the highest point of the forest then dropping steeply to the ford at Bob Dale Beck - this can be impassable in very wet weather. We have free information leaflets of Gisburn Forest at Pedal Power. The leaflet includes a large map of the cycle routes. Please call in and will be able to advise you and give you directions.
